Fink Bressack attorneys have more than 40 years of experience representing a wide range of clients, including individuals, corporations and municipalities in all types of environmental law and litigation.

Our attorneys have litigated matters involving the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, CERCLA (Superfund), RCRA, the Michigan Environmental Protection Act (MEPA) and Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA). We have also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of common law environmental claims (trespass, nuisance, ultra-hazardous activity, etc.).

We served as co-lead counsel in the Enbridge Oil Spill Class Action Litigation, in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Michigan, arising from the largest reported oil pipeline release in Michigan’s history. That case settled, with benefits provided to thousands of local residents.

We currently represent a mid-Michigan municipality and a putative class of taxpayers in an environmental remediation cost recovery action concerning a landfill operator. This matter involves releases and threatened releases of hazardous substances from a landfill.

Our attorneys have been at the forefront of the development of environmental law in Michigan and were involved in leading trial and appellate cases regarding environmental law and insurance coverage claims. David Fink also represented the City of Detroit and the Urban Core Mayors in working with the Governor and the State Legislature to negotiate the terms of NREPA.
