Fink Bressack Welcomes Veneshia P. Cezil

Fink Bressack is proud to welcome Veneshia P. Cezil to the firm.

Bringing more than 17 years of trial, investigative, and executive leadership experience at the federal, state, and local levels, Ms. Cezil joins the litigation team with a solid record of public service.

At Fink Bressack, Veneshia focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including commercial, contract, business, and environmental disputes. Her background working in diverse legal, technological, and governmental environments gives her meaningful insight into litigation involving federal, state and local regulation, as well as complex civil lawsuits which often arise from the same fact patterns giving rise to criminal prosecutions.

Experience In Government and Litigation

Before joining Fink Bressack, Ms. Cezil served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the Violent and Major Crimes Unit for the Eastern District of Michigan, where she prosecuted significant federal matters, presented cases to the grand jury, and handled motion practice, plea negotiations, and trial preparation. As the district’s first e-Litigation AUSA, she led digital-evidence initiatives, developed litigation-technology standards, and served as Acting Administrative Officer.

Before joining the US Attorney’s Office, Veneshia held senior leadership roles at the Michigan Department of Attorney General, including serving as Chief of Operations and the Department’s first Executive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer. She supervised more than 550 employees, guided statewide operations, oversaw multimillion-dollar contracts, and led the creation of the Attorney General’s inaugural DEI framework. Earlier in her career at the Attorney General’s Office, she served as Division Chief of the Children & Youth Services Division and Bureau Chief of the Criminal Justice Bureau, supervising the Criminal, Financial Crimes, and Health Care Fraud divisions.

Her legal experience began at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where she tried numerous jury and bench trials involving homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, and other violent offenses. She is widely recognized for empowering victims—particularly children—through compassionate advocacy, integrity, and strength in the courtroom.

Leadership Beyond the Courtroom

Ms. Cezil is a frequent speaker and advocate committed to public safety, community engagement, and human rights. She has spoken nationally and internationally on community collaboration, public safety, and anti-trafficking, including as a featured speaker in Accra, Ghana for the Attorney General Alliance Association’s Whole-of-Community initiative. Her personal values reflect her guiding motto: “We must lift up as we climb.”

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Veneshia immigrated to the United States as an infant and became a U.S. citizen in 2020. She is dedicated to public service, representation, and creating pathways for belonging. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her two children—her most meaningful role.
