Veneshia P. Cezil brings more than 17 years of trial, investigative, and executive leadership experience at the federal, state, and local levels to her litigation practice at Fink Bressack.


She is known as a fearless advocate, a strategic thinker, and a committed public servant dedicated to delivering justice and meaningful results for her clients.

At Fink Bressack, Mrs. Cezil focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including commercial, contract, business, and environmental disputes. She conducts sophisticated legal research and analysis, drafts persuasive motions and briefs, manages discovery, and leverages advanced e-litigation tools to develop efficient, technology-forward case strategies. Her experience working at the intersection of law, technology, and government operations strengthens her ability to navigate multifaceted matters involving regulatory, statutory, and evidentiary complexity.

Before joining the firm, Mrs. Cezil served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Violent and Major Crimes Unit for the Eastern District of Michigan, where she prosecuted significant federal offenses, presented cases to the grand jury, and handled motion practice, plea negotiations, and trial preparations. As the district’s first e-Litigation AUSA, she led the development of digital-evidence protocols and supervised litigation technology integration. She also served as the office’s Acting Administrative Officer.

Mrs. Cezil previously held several leadership roles at the Michigan Department of Attorney General, including Chief of Operations and the Department’s first Executive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer. She supervised more than 550 employees, managed statewide operations, reviewed multimillion-dollar contracts, and led the creation of the Department’s inaugural DEI program. Her earlier leadership roles included Division Chief of the Children & Youth Services Division and Bureau Chief of the Criminal Justice Bureau, where she oversaw multiple divisions including Criminal, Financial Crimes, and Health Care Fraud.

She began her career at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where she tried numerous jury and bench trials involving homicides, sexual assaults, armed robberies, and other violent crimes. She is widely recognized for empowering victims, elevating children’s voices, and demonstrating integrity, empathy, and strength in the courtroom.

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Mrs. Cezil immigrated to the United States as an infant and became a U.S. citizen in 2020. She remains deeply committed to community engagement, public service, and creating pathways for belonging. She has spoken nationally and internationally on issues related to public safety, community collaboration, and human trafficking—including as a featured speaker in Accra, Ghana for the Attorney General Alliance Association’s Whole of Community Approach. Mrs. Cezil says her most important job is being a mom to her son and daughter. She is guided by her personal motto: “We must lift up as we climb.”
